Final Known Movements
Charles Evans was, according to his IDPF, last seen "in the vicinity of the town of Herberg, Holland." This must have referred to Herberg Het Eeuwig Leven, which was located along the Asten–Meijel road and matches the position of his company on October 29, 1944. His body was later recovered in Immendorf, Germany, which strongly suggests that he was captured and died as a prisoner of war. The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery.
